Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Proposes Bill for Sanctions Against Iran

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has proposed a bill that seeks to impose sanctions on Iran for a period of 50 years, according to Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy’s chief of staff. The move is in response to Ukraine’s claims that Tehran has been supplying weapons to Moscow, its ally, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year. Iran denies these allegations.

If the bill is approved by Ukraine’s parliament, it would result in the prohibition of Iranian goods passing through Ukraine and the use of Ukrainian airspace. Additionally, it would impose trade, financial, and technology-related sanctions on Iran and its citizens.

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, reported on Sunday that Moscow had carried out the largest drone strike on Ukraine to date. The attack allegedly involved 54 drones of Iranian origin, with 52 of them being successfully intercepted and shot down.
