According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s state news agency, the country’s defenses managed to shoot down 58 of the 59 Iranian-made Shahed drones deployed by Russia in a major drone attack on the capital city of Kyiv. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that Russia had launched a total of 59 Iranian Shahed-136/131 attack drones during the overnight assault.

It has been revealed that Russia has been utilizing Iranian-supplied drones to carry out devastating attacks on critical infrastructure in Ukraine since October.

The Shahed-136 drones from Iran are notorious for their “kamikaze” nature, designed to explode upon impact.

In response to the drone attack on Kyiv, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, issued a warning to Tehran about the consequences of their actions. He took to Twitter to express his concerns, stating that Tehran has become a crucial ally of Moscow in this war, deliberately providing weapons for assaults on civilian cities. Podolyak emphasized that the attack on Kyiv with 50 Shahed drones on City Day is yet another clear confirmation of Iran’s complicity. He further declared that Iran’s actions are intentional and that they must face the repercussions for their actions.
