Thick Sydney fog delays flights, ferries

A repeat of thick morning fog across Sydney that delayed flights and ferries has been all but ruled out by the weather bureau.

Low visibility on Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River halted all ferry services on Thursday morning, with the last of the eight routes resuming just after 8am.

Flights out of and into Sydney Airport were also delayed due to the thick cloud that blanketed the city.

But with windy conditions predicted for Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology says it’s highly unlikely to happen for a second consecutive day.

The temperature across Sydney is expected to drop to 14C overnight before reaching a top of 23C on Friday.

Light northerly winds are forecast before shifting and strengthening in the early afternoon.
