Texas mall gunman had Nazi tattoos and researched attack, social media posts show
Mauricio Garcia, the man who killed eight people in a mass shooting at a shopping mall in suburban Dallas, had been planning the attack for weeks, according to his online activity on a Russian social networking site.
His posts indicated he researched when the mall would be busiest, and he posted photos of a store near where he ultimately started his attack.
Garcia’s online activity also revealed his fascination with white supremacy and mass shootings, which he described as a sport.
He had Nazi tattoos on his arm and torso, including a swastika and the SS lightning bolt logo.
Garcia was discharged from the Army in 2008 due to mental health issues and was apparently working as a security guard.
The investigation is ongoing, and federal agents are examining Garcia’s financial records and electronic media to understand his motivations for the attack.
