Woman wins $2 million lottery prize while running errands with mom

A South Carolina woman found running errands with her mother was a profitable decision when she won a $2 million lottery jackpot while waiting at a car wash.

The Grand Strand woman told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she was running errands with her mother when the older woman asked her to stop at the Coastal Petro for a Powerball ticket.

The woman said she went into the store and bought her mother’s Powerball ticket, along with a $2,000,000 Colossal Cash scratch-off for herself.

The two women next went to the car wash and, while waiting by the vacuums, the woman’s boyfriend called and asked her to get him a Powerball ticket, too.

The player said she decided to scratch off her $10 ticket in case she won enough money to cover the cost of her boyfriend’s ticket, and discovered she had won a $2 million jackpot.

She said winning the top prize was “unbelievable.”

“I wasn’t feeling lucky,” she said. “I wasn’t having a great day, and I ended up winning the lottery.”

The winner said the first thing she did with her winnings was pay off her house and she is now considering taking a vacation.
