Pakistan’s police force reported the death of two commanders from a militant organization in the northwestern region of the country, according to a local official on Saturday.

The country has heightened its actions against these militants following a rise in violence from the Pakistani Taliban, commonly referred to as TTP, specifically in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

In November, the TTP terminated its truce with the government, directing its fighters to launch attacks across the nation. Regional police officer, Muhammad Ali Gandapur, stated that the deceased TTP members were sought after in connection to the murder of five police officers and were also implicated in assaults on security checkpoints.

The government had placed a reward of $7,259 on their heads.

During the same intelligence operation in Hund village, Swabi district, police arrested four militants and recovered items including gunpowder, hand grenades, electronic detonators, and Kalashnikov rifles.

This operation took place shortly after a suicide bombing at a mosque inside a police and government compound in the city of Peshawar resulted in 101 fatalities and at least 225 injuries, making it one of the deadliest attacks in recent years in the unstable area.
