Scholz denies claims that Putin has threatened him or Germany

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated in an interview with Bild am Sonntag newspaper that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not make any threats towards him or Germany during their telephone conversations.

The conversations between Scholz and Putin revealed their differing views on the war in Ukraine, with Scholz holding Russia responsible for the conflict.

Germany is providing financial, humanitarian, and military aid to Ukraine due to Russia’s violation of Europe’s peace framework.

Scholz confirmed that there is an agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the weapons supplied by the West will only be used in Ukraine, not on Russian territory.

Putin views the military operation in Ukraine as a necessary defense against an aggressive West, while Ukraine and the West see it as an illegal expansion of Russian territory.

In light of international pressure, the German government recently announced plans to deliver modern Leopard 2 tanks.

Scholz emphasized that any arms delivery will be closely coordinated with western allies to prevent escalation.
