The Kremlin has refrained from making any statement regarding the 25-year prison sentence imposed on Vladimir Kara-Murza, a prominent critic of the Russian government, who was found guilty of treason and discrediting the country’s armed forces.

Kara-Murza’s sentence is the longest for an opponent of President Vladimir Putin, and it has attracted criticism from Western governments.

When asked by journalists to comment on the sentence, Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated that the Kremlin never comments on court rulings.
