Coastal Florida city hit by tornado, causing damage to homes and flipping cars

Severe weather hit Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Saturday as a strong storm system caused heavy rain and powerful winds, resulting in a tornado that caused extensive damage.

The National Weather Service in Miami reported that the tornado, which had winds reaching 100 mph (160 kph), touched down near Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and moved northeast towards the coast.

The tornado overturned cars, broke tree branches, and damaged homes.

The authorities had to close several major roads due to storm damage while workers cleared debris and assessed the wreckage.

The aftermath of the storm left vehicles piled up and scattered debris along the streets.

According to a spokeswoman for the city, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department has confirmed no significant injuries or deaths following the tornado that hit on Saturday. As of Sunday, emergency protocols have been deactivated, and officials are addressing any remaining concerns.

On Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch for a significant portion of central Florida due to thunderstorms moving through the area.
