Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau Visits Ukraine to Express Support

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Saturday, expressing solidarity and support for Ukraine as the country prepares for a major counteroffensive against Russian forces and copes with frequent air strikes.

During his visit, Trudeau paid his respects at a memorial site in central Kyiv dedicated to the Ukrainian soldiers who have lost their lives in the conflict against pro-Russian forces since 2014.

Trudeau’s visit comes following a night of missile and drone attacks carried out by Russian forces on various locations outside the capital, including Odesa, Poltava region, and Kharkiv.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who has a Ukrainian background, accompanied Trudeau during the visit.
