Body of Pakistan’s former president Musharraf are set to be repatriated from Dubai

The body of former Pakistani President and military leader Pervez Musharraf are scheduled to be returned to Pakistan on Monday.

Musharraf, who had been living in Dubai for medical treatment, died on Sunday at the age of 79. A burial is expected to take place later in the day.

During his nearly 9-year rule, which began with a 1999 coup, Musharraf suspended the constitution twice, was accused of election fraud, and faced criticism for human rights violations.

Although he was a key ally of the US during the invasion of Afghanistan, Musharraf remains a controversial figure in Pakistan, where the military remains powerful and influential.
