As an Amber Alert in British Columbia stretches into its sixth day, authorities reveal that the alleged abduction of two children was likely pre-planned, and the suspects may have taken the kids “off the grid.”
Eight-year-old Aurora Bolton and 10-year-old Joshuah Bolton are believed to be traveling with their mother, Verity Bolton, her boyfriend, Abraxas Glazov, and their grandfather, Robert Bolton.
Surrey RCMP released photos of all the adults suspected to be traveling with the children, as well as images of the children themselves.
In a recent update, Sgt. Tammy Lobb, an RCMP spokesperson, emphasized the crucial role the public would play in locating Aurora and Joshuah. The police received credible information suggesting the group may be living “in trailers somewhere in a rural area.”
Glazov, described as an outdoorsman with a history of living off the grid, has connections to Nelson, B.C., Deadman Valley, and Vidette Lake areas.
Robert Bolton met his daughter at his Chilliwack home on June 30 and has not been seen since. Authorities mention he may be confused or disoriented due to health concerns.
The group is believed to be traveling in a dark blue 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 with B.C. license plate SJ2708, towing three different trailers.
Despite receiving over 180 tips, there have been no confirmed sightings outside of B.C. The last sighting of the children was on July 7 at a gas station in Merritt, while their mother was last seen on surveillance video at a grocery store in Kamloops on July 15.
The children typically reside with their father in Surrey, but they did not return as scheduled from a planned vacation to B.C.’s Okanagan region on July 17.
Police urge the public to provide tips related to the Amber Alert through a dedicated phone number (604-599-7676) or by emailing surreyamberalert@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
