MIAMI – Lawyers representing former U.S. President Donald Trump have reached an agreement with federal prosecutors to postpone the pretrial hearing regarding the handling of classified information in court.
The hearing, originally scheduled for Friday, will now take place next week. The delay was necessitated by a conflicting bench trial involving Trump’s valet, Walt Nauta, who is also facing charges alongside the former president.
The attorneys have confirmed their availability for the pretrial conference on July 18 and have coordinated the date change with U.S. attorneys. The approval of the new date by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon is still pending.
Trump and Nauta were indicted on 38 counts, accused of conspiring to conceal classified documents at Mar-a-Lago from federal investigators.
Both individuals have pleaded not guilty. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing, characterizing the prosecution as an attempt to undermine his potential candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.
