A recent report published by Rentola.ca, a rentals platform, highlights the safest cities in Canada, with Ontario cities securing the majority of spots in the top 10.
Topping the list is Barrie, Ontario, considered the safest city among all Canadian metropolitan areas, with an impressive overall safety index of 7.13. Following closely behind is Brantford, Ontario, ranked as Canada’s second safest city, boasting an overall safety index of 7.00.
The rankings were determined by analyzing various indicators on a scale of one to 10, including the number of citizens per police officer, the prevalence of violent and non-violent crimes, and the crime-solving rate.
Guelph, Ontario takes the third spot on the list as the safest city in Canada, with an overall safety index of 6.84, while Toronto, Ontario secures the fourth position with a safety index of 6.63.
Saint John, New Brunswick, comes in as the fifth safest city in the country, with a safety index of 6.46.
Among the 34 cities analyzed in the study, Winnipeg receives the lowest safety index, scoring 4.59.
