According to the official IRNA news agency, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji and his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, had a meeting on Wednesday during the OPEC conference in Vienna. The encounter took place on the sidelines of the conference, providing an opportunity for the ministers to discuss various bilateral issues.
The meeting between Owji and Prince Abdulaziz follows the renewal of diplomatic ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia in March, which was facilitated by China. This development has opened the door for potential collaboration and cooperation between the two nations across different sectors.
During their discussion, the ministers focused on bilateral matters, particularly investment opportunities in the oil and gas industry. They also explored the potential for joint investments and addressed topics such as hydrocarbon trade and the development of shared fields.
In addition, Saudi Arabia reiterated its call for Iran to engage in negotiations with both Riyadh and Kuwait regarding the demarcation of the maritime “Divided Area” in the Gulf. The ongoing dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia reflects a desire for improved relations and a willingness to address regional issues through diplomatic channels.
